No Heat Troubleshooting

If you have found your heating system to not be working

Ensure the emergency shut-off switch is “On.” For oil heating systems, it’s usually at the top of basement stairs with a red switch plate. For propane systems, it can be at the stairs or near the unit.

Check fuel levels. If low, call for delivery.

Ensure the thermostat works and is set above room temperature.

Check for blown or loose fuses or tripped circuit breakers.

Clear snow from the area outside if your system has a wall vent.

Press the reset button once and wait up to 45 seconds for the system to start. Central heat and hot water propane systems may need power cycling to reset.

Call for prompt service if the system doesn’t start.
